Our Process

There's one question that we hear time and time again when potential clients are seeking bids and evaluating our services: "What makes Custom Hardwood Floors different?"

"The bitterness of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten"
- Benjamin Franklin

We could start by talking about our free estimates, how Dave, the owner, is always available and how we have a variety of environmentally friendly products available. The most important difference between Custom Hardwood Floors and our competition however, is that we are really passionate about putting a quality solid wood floor in your home that will last for generations. We do not use inferior thin wear layer manufactured products in our jobs because they simply do not stand the test of time. This is not to that we do not offer glue down products that are equal to solid wood flooring in wear layer thickness which will also stand the test of time.

To Illustrate:

Solid Wood Flooring

Notice that a solid wood floor is solid wood throughout, meaning it's got at least a 1/4 inch of sandable thickness and more importantly if treated properly, it will stand the test of time.

Manufactured Wood Flooring

With inferior manufactured wood flooring you can see the wood portion is simply a veneer that is typically only 1mm thick (comparable to a business card). This means that over time blemishes, scratches and even normal wear will reveal dissimilar wood below. This would mean the floor cannot be refinished. While these floors look good when installed they simply do not last.

So as you can see when you choose Austin Custom Hardwood Floors to put wood flooring into your home, you are investing in artisan craftsmanship and superior materials that are designed to last a lifetime.
